Welcome
Rooted in the rolling hills of Silicon Valley and inspired by the people of this community, the Sand Hill Foundation is privileged to invest in nonprofit organizations that make lasting change -- one life at a time. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of people in need, the wide range of social issues that affect the San Francisco Bay Area, and the complexity of those issues. Yet, more often we find ourselves moved and inspired. Why? The passion, entrepreneurial talent and vision of our nonprofit partners are cause for celebration and hope. Each grant we make is a reflection of our appreciation for the land and people of this place we call home.
New Grant Making Initiative in 2010: Launching the Silicon Valley Out-of-School-Time Collaborative
In partnership with Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2) and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the Sand Hill Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Silicon Valley Out-of-School-Time Collaborative. More information is available on the New Initiative page of our web site. The deadline for applications was March 5, 2010.
Our History
The Sand Hill Foundation is a private family foundation established by Tom and Susan Ford in 1995. The Foundation emerged from the late Tom Ford's lifelong passion for giving and community development, as evidenced by his leadership in developing the environmentally sensitive properties along Sand Hill Road in the late 1960s. Susan Ford Dorsey carries on the Foundation's work of making grants to organizations that benefit the San Francisco Peninsula, particularly in San Mateo and northern Santa Clara counties.
