For organizations like Sustainable San Mateo County, an exciting and engaging website is critical to drive impactful, community action on economic, environmental and social equity issues that lead to sustainable practices in San Mateo County.

After sponsoring the organization’s annual sustainability awards showcase for several years, Sand Hill Foundation supported Sustainable San Mateo County in 2020 with a grant to hire a design consultant who could develop a new organizational website to engage a wider and younger community.

The result? A fun and interactive website that has led the organization to surpass many goals including an 88% increase in web-driven donations. Additionally, the website revamp supported Sustainable San Mateo County in attracting more prospective volunteers and interns to the organization.

The website features a Sustainability Dashboard which tracks progress by city in San Mateo County and helps local leaders and residents assess advancement toward sustainability goals in a variety of key categories including energy, health, well-being, social equity, transportation and waste management.

A further two-year grant in 2022 is providing resources for strategic planning and organizational development necessary to meet the resulting demand from local leaders, cities, and businesses for Sustainable San Mateo County’s insights and services.
