“We are grateful for Sand Hill Foundation’s deep understanding of, and appreciation for, the transformative work we are able to accomplish with homeless families at LifeMoves.” — Amy Wright, Vice President, Development

Over 26,000 people become homeless in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties every year. Sudden job loss, a costly illness, or family breakup can push hard-working families onto the streets. In Silicon Valley, the cost of living is nearly 50% higher than the national average and most low-wage workers live paycheck to paycheck. LifeMoves is in business to help people exit homelessness and navigate back to independence.

LifeMoves serves thousands of homeless clients annually through its “Beyond the Bed” case management services—a proven model that delivers a 90% success rate in returning program graduates to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

This program helps homeless people acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to regain proprietorship over their lives. With funding from Sand Hill Foundation, LifeMoves has been able to provide housing and supportive services to over 300 homeless parents and children annually at Haven House in Menlo Park. Sand Hill Foundation has been supporting LifeMoves since 1992.
