Small Capital Needs

A Fund for Community Building

There are times when one-time expenditures are necessary that fall outside the annual budget.  Sand Hill Foundation offers grants of up to $35,000 for capital costs that will meet an urgent need or funding to strengthen an organization.

To apply, please first review this link to the Small Capital Needs Grant Application Overview

Spring Submissions
Applications will be accepted between March 1 and March 31, 2017.

Fall Submissions
Applications will be accepted between August 1 and September 8, 2017.

All organizations working within our focus areas and geographic scope are eligible to apply for small capital grants.

Grantees who are currently the recipient of another Sand Hill Foundation grant, with prior approval from the Foundation, may submit a second request for small capital needs.

Examples of past grants include: the costs of an unexpected office move, a new youth group van, technology upgrades, and the build-out of a small-business incubator space.  New eligible areas include: project-based capacity building consultants for evaluation, strategic planning, data analysis, governance, human capital, and fundraising.

In response to the number of grant requests for Small Capital Needs that we have received, we have established two submission deadlines for 2017 and will issue decisions approximately one month after the submission deadline.
